Mark Musick, Chairman of the Workforce Investment Board, called the meeting to order and welcomed attendees and special guests. The minutes from September 19, 2006 SWIB Meeting were approved.

Debra Lyons presented on State Workforce Investment Board Points of Interest from the Workforce Development Survey conducted in July 2006. Comments were made in regards to the data being discouraging – little discussion on how to capture the attention of kids at the in between income levels for college.

Debra Lyons discussed the NGA Policy Academy(s) the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development is working on, they are: Automotive, Bio-Tech, and Energy.

Mark Musick presented the Strategic Plan for approval. It was suggested that the State Workforce Investment Board invite more businesses to be active in the board. It was motioned to develop a metric and implementation schedule.

Martha Reichrath presented on Charting the Course for Georgia’s System for Public Education.

Mark Musick invited board members to participate in the "Building the Next Workforce" Forums to begin February 16, 2007 through February 28, 2007. The forums are being funded by State Workforce Investment Board and Department of Labor.

Debra Lyons presented the website and spoke briefly about the recent announcement on the Certified Work Ready Communities.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 1:40 p.m.
