Minutes
Mark Musick, Chairman of the Workforce Investment Board, called the meeting to order and welcomed attendees and special guests.
Debra Lyons provided a status of the strategic planning efforts of the Board by introducing the six strategic planning subcommittees and the respective Chairs.
WFD Public Awareness Strategies, Chair Jackie Rohosky
Holistic Seamless Career Development in the Education Community, Chair Mike Vollmer
Adult Life Long Learning Strategies, Chair Charlene Sizemore
WFD Strategies for At Risk and Out of School Youth, Valenica Adams
Strategies to Align WFD (Education) and Economic Development, Chair Mike Garrett
Partnering Community Resources to Remove Barriers to Work Strategies, Chair Mike Beatty
Ms. Lyons also provided the Board with a projected timeline for completing the strategic plan by September 19, 2006.
Wes Wynens, lead the subcommittees of the board in discussion that by the end of the day resulted in a problem statement for their sub-committee area based on an analysis of the political, socio-cultural, economic, and technological forces affecting their area of emphasis. Each group was then asked to identify the ideal future state for their subcommittee area.
Each group summarized their discussion and presented to the full board their findings.
A summary of these reports will help to organize and direct subsequent strategic planning activities of the Board.
