Mark Musick, Chairman of the Workforce Investment Board, called the meeting to order and welcomed attendees and special guests.

Debra Lyons provided a status of the strategic planning efforts of the Board by introducing the six strategic planning subcommittees and the respective Chairs.

WFD Public Awareness Strategies, Chair Jackie Rohosky

Holistic Seamless Career Development in the Education Community, Chair Mike Vollmer

Adult Life Long Learning Strategies, Chair Charlene Sizemore

WFD Strategies for At Risk and Out of School Youth, Valenica Adams

Ms. Lyons also provided the Board with a projected timeline for completing the strategic plan by September 19, 2006.

Wes Wynens, lead the subcommittees of the board in discussion that by the end of the day resulted in a problem statement for their sub-committee area based on an analysis of the political, socio-cultural, economic, and technological forces affecting their area of emphasis.  Each group was then asked to identify the ideal future state for their subcommittee area.

Each group summarized their discussion and presented to the full board their findings.

A summary of these reports will help to organize and direct subsequent strategic planning activities of the Board.

The next meeting is scheduled for June 20, 2006 at Timber Ridge Conference Center.
