Timber Ridge Conference Center 9:00 – 3:00 pm

Minutes

Mark Musick, Chairman of the Workforce Investment Board, called the meeting to order and welcomed attendees and special guests.

Debra Lyons provided an update of the strategic planning efforts of the Board.  Of the six strategic planning subcommittees, two of them were tweaked to better reflect the June 1st work of the Board. The Holistic and Seamless Career Development in the Education Community Strategies subcommittee has been re-organized into Developing the Workforce Pipeline in the Education Community (P-16/20) with two sub topics from which to plan: Seamless Career Development in the Education Community and Capacity Building in the Education Community.  The Removing Barriers to Work subcommittee was expanding to include Health Care and Technology.  Both of these modifications were reflected on the State WIB Strategic Plan schematic.

Wes Wynens, lead the subcommittees of the board in discussion that utilized the subcommittee summaries from the June 1st meeting to develop problem statements, two best solutions for the problems and discuss an implementation plan for each of the two solutions.   At the end of the meeting, each group was given the opportunity to discuss their findings with the full board.

After the information gained from this meeting is summarized, then the sub-committee Chairs and Co-chairs will meet to further define the strategic plan for each subcommittee.

It is anticipated that these plans will be presented to the full board for their review at the September 19, 2006 State Workforce Investment Board meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 19, 2006 at Timber Ridge Conference Center.
